AYC 2015: Ghana beat Zambia 2-1 to make semis

The Black Satellites have beaten Zambia 2-1 in the second Group B match of the 2015 African Youth Championships in Senegal.

The victory gives Ghana six points and a place in the semi-finals of the tournament and more importantly, a place in the 2015 Under 20 World Cup in new Zealand later this year.

However, the achievement looked some distance off as Zambia scored in the first minute through Dave Daka.

Ghana, who were unchanged from the their first group match against South Africa, went for the equaliser but after trying to get a grip of the match, they got rewarded through a lovely left-footed curler from New Edubiase’s Aseidu Attobrah in the 26th minute.

The match ended 1-1 at half time but the second was more open as the teams fought goals to make the difference and the breakthrough came the way of the Ghanaian team in the 86th minute when he poked the ball past the Zambian goalie Mangani Banda from close range with the Zambian defence expecting a flag from the assistant referee for an offside.

Ghana stay top of the Group with 6 points ahead of Mali who also have 6 points but they possess an inferior goal difference. The Malians beat South Africa 2-1 earlier on Thursday.
